Story of Taiwan Little League team

Hong Ye village, is located in Yanping Township, Taitung County.In 1968, the Little League team from this village defeated the best Japanese team from Kansai by 7:0. This battle made the team become the most legendary Little League team in Taiwan. From 1965 to 1968, Hong Ye Little League team battled around Taiwan, and received numerous champions. The team gradually attracted the attention of people. However, the legend also had little-known dark side and bitterness. First, when the team was spotted using a number of over-aged players to play and therefore was investigated. Second, many teenagers in the team grew up, but they did not get any good training, and some even died young. So, the legend was tended into a sad song.

CPBL

The Chinese Professional Baseball League or CPBL, is the top-tier professional baseball league in Taiwan. The league was established in 1989. CPBL eventually absorbed the competing Taiwan Major League in 2003. As of 2013, the CPBL has four teams, Chinatrust Brother, Lamigo Monkeys, EDA Rhinos, Uni-President Lion with average attendance of approximately 6,000 per game. The games that the teams in the League play are categorized into exhibition games, season, play off series, and all-star games.

The idea of forming a professional baseball league in Taiwan was first suggested by Brother Hotel's chairman Hung Teng-Sheng .

 He formed his amateur Brother Hotel baseball team in 1984, and intended to professionalize his team and form a professional league within a few years. Throughout 1988 and 1989, Hung visited numerous Taiwanese businesses, trying to convince them to form professional baseball clubs. Most of his requests were rejected, but Wei Chuan Corporation, Mercuries Chain Stores, and Uni- President Corporation all supported the idea and formed teams. The Chinese Professional Baseball League was established on October 23, 1989, with Hung Teng-sheng acting as secretary-general. Because of his contribution to professional baseball in Taiwan, Hung is sometimes referred to as the "Father of the CPBL."

Dai kang Yang-The Famous Baseball Player from Taiwan

Dai kang yang is a famous baseball player in the world, and he was born in Taiwan Taitung. His brother Chung Shou Yang is also a Taiwanese professional baseball player, Chung Shou is so excellent that their mother thinks Dai kang Yang can’t do better than his brother. In the beginning Dai kang Yang’s parents did not support him to play baseball. However, because of his talent, he still played on the Hsin Sheng elementary school team and helped the school team win the champion. Therefore , Dai kang Yang also had a chance to become the exchange students to learn how to play baseball in Japan.

At that time, he was young and got homesick. Although he was maladaptive and tired, he never gave up and led the team to win the good prize in the most important baseball game in Japan. His abilities have made him be the first person to choose any professional team he wanted to go. In the end, he chose the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters to be his team.

Unfortunately, he didn’t play an important role in his team in the beginning. During few years, he wanted to give up many times, but he still insisted on playing baseball. Now, he is a famous baseball player and lives a happy life with his beautiful wife and daughter. His experience tells us that we need to spend more times achieving our goals, and never ever give up

KANO

kanoKano is a 2014 Taiwanese baseball film which Is directed by Umin Boya and co-produced by Wei Te-Sheng. The film depicts the multiracial Kano baseball team from southern Taiwan who overcomes extreme odds to represent the island in the 1931 Japanese High School Baseball Championship at Koshien(甲子園) Stadium.Before Taiwan baseball team swept the world,1929, Chiayi Kerry farmers composed a baseball team by Japanese, Taiwanese and Taiwanese aborigines. The new coach Taro Kondo appeal to "enter the Koshien" as the goal, and implemented very strict Spartan training. Originally, this undisciplined team had been discriminated against the Japanese. However, they were inspired by strictly training and repeatedly frustrating, and they aroused their will to win and determine to enter the Koshien.

In 1931, Kerry farmers won the championship in Taiwan and first participated in the Summer Koshien. In the tournament, the Kano players believed themselves and never give up. Their spirits moved in fifty-five thousand spectators in the field. Moreover, they created a legend at Koshien Stadium.

In this film, there are many quotes that are worth learning . For example, the coach in the film says “Of the papaya tree under nail, it will think that it’s going to die, and then it will try hard to bear plump fruit” as Kano pitcher who ignores his injured finger, and wants to fight the court to the last time. Baseball has been popular since ancient times because Taiwanese have such a positive attitude. Baseball is not only a sport, but also a spirit which represents Taiwan.
